Church Construction - Building the Church

Our Church Construction ministry provides much-needed buildings for PAZ churches that are young and growing. After a village is reached with the Gospel (typically through the health and/or water filter ministries)), local believers need a suitable place to meet. It is amazing how encouraging a simple church building is to a local body of believers and how much it helps a young church to grow.

What Makes a Church

Project AmaZon has partnered with several organizations to build church buildings all over the Amazon Basin. We match donors to specific community needs and involve the local church in every facet of the work. PAZ missionaries work alongside talented and energetic Brazilians (such as Joaquim, our construction coordinator) to make the most of our donations. Visiting work teams from the United States, Canada and other countries lend a powerful helping hand.

We encourage local communities to give what they can, so they will take ownership of the building. Often a community will cut lumber from the jungle, gather sand and stone (for concrete) and provide needed hands for labor. The Brazilians are extremely hard workers and clever in making things work in a tough environment!

Different Communities, Different Needs

PAZ uses different construction methods for different environments. The style of building depends on the resources that are available locally and the lay of the land. PAZ uses two main designs for its churches: a solid concrete/brick structure and a more flexible all-wood structure that’s well suited for villages that flood. PAZ is also experimenting with prefabricated structures that go up very quickly.

Building the Kingdom

In our most recent mailing we tell the story of the community of Piracãoera de Cima, where a church was recently built in the midst of the worst flooding in the Basin our generation has seen. It’s amazing to see how much God uses a physical building to build his eternal kingdom, as evidenced [...]

A Christmas Non Appeal

This Christmas, Project AmaZon director Jeff Hrubik sensed God leading us at PAZ to make a very different type of appeal – one I’ve personally never seen done, even heard of being done before! All I can say is that I believe God has something very special in store for you this Christmas and [...]
