Our vision—to plant an evangelical church in every village in the Amazon Basin—presents PAZ with a tremendous transportation challenge.
To grasp the enormity of the area we want to reach for Christ, consider that the Amazon Basin is about 2/3 the size of the continental United States! The transportation challenge is further complicated by the fact that there are very few roads and even fewer highways in the Amazon. Thus, our roads and highways are the Basin’s countless rivers and lakes.
Our Highways lay on the countless rivers of the Amazon Basin
Experience has taught us that we must do everything possible to help our key pastors and church planters make better use of their time. This means building faster, all-aluminum boats and—when appropriate—airlifting leaders into remote locations. Otherwise, our best people end up wasting days and even weeks traveling into remote areas on slow-moving boats.
To help us meet this challenge, God has blessed PAZ with a four-seat Lake amphibious aircraft that is vastly multiplying the time and efforts of our leaders. The plane opens up many doors to ministry, such as airlifting church leaders into distant areas quickly and transporting doctors out to our health boats.
PAZ's amphibious aircraft is good, quick transportation in the basin
Missionary Aviation Fellowship (MAF) and MAF pilot Tim Ault are assisting us with our aviation program through its Brazilian arm, which is called ”Asas de Socorro” (Wings of Help).
One of our most pressing needs—as our church planters begin to work along the TransAmazonian Highway and into the interior—is for 4-wheel drive vehicles and rugged motorcycles that can handle the rough roads and trails.
The money to buy and maintain these land vehicles, boats and aircraft comes from individuals, churches and Christian foundations who have a heart for missions.
"How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can they preach unless they are sent?" Romanos 10:14-15
In our most recent mailing we tell the story of the community of Piracãoera de Cima, where a church was recently built in the midst of the worst flooding in the Basin our generation has seen. It’s amazing to see how much God uses a physical building to build his eternal kingdom, as evidenced [...]

Last night we here at PAZ headquarters in Santarém ushered in the New Year at the church on our knees, seeking the Lord’s blessing on 2010. During the service we looked back at all the successes of 2009. While we are still waiting for numbers to come in from across our bases, through [...]
This Christmas, Project AmaZon director Jeff Hrubik sensed God leading us at PAZ to make a very different type of appeal – one I’ve personally never seen done, even heard of being done before! All I can say is that I believe God has something very special in store for you this Christmas and [...]
