Final Preparations
July 9, 2009
Today is the opening day of the Congresso and we need your prayers! A mean storm came through two nights ago, destroying some of the set. Our team is busily trying to repair as much of the set as they can. Praise God that the rest of the plans are coming together well.
Thursday night the field at the stadium was packed with performers, musicians, technicians, dancers, set designers and dressers, work teams, intercessors, pastors and just about everyone else interested in helping. These groups practice into the early hours of the morning the whole week of the Congresso. Let’s agree together in prayer that all this work will result in over 2,000 people to be reached with the Gospel! Stay tuned for more Congresso news as it happens.
Here Comes the Congresso!
July 6, 2009
This Friday, Saturday and Sunday marks Santarém’s annual Congresso da Paz, a powerful weekend of salvation and miracles! For months the church has been preparing, planning and praying for over 2,000 people to make decisions for Christ at this years‘ Congresso. The nationally recognized speaker Pastor Maurício Rocha and the anointed worship team of Nívea Soares are being brought in to make this a top-notch event.
This past Sunday night at around 10 PM, a crew of hundreds of volunteers and several trucks lifted, hoisted, secured, finagled and transported the huge set pieces down the streets of Santarém. Excitement and expectation electrified the air as the set pieces were taken out of the warehouse Galpão Congresso, where they’ve been in construction for the last couple of months, to the Stadium where for the first time they will all be put together.
What makes the Congresso so unique are the huge sets, dramas, dances and fireworks that are planned, choreographed, designed and produced all within the church for this one event. This year also marks the first year of a partnership with Caíque Oliveira, the leader of the nationally recognized Brazilian drama group from São Paulo Jeová Nissi. Without a doubt, this will be the best year yet!

Prayer is now the fuel that will light this event ablaze with God’s power to save, heal and change forever the destiny of over 2,000 people. As a church and mission we’ve been praying for months for this event, and now we ask you to agree with us in prayer and fasting for the Congresso. Already several of our pastors and leaders have been under attack, five of them in the last week getting seriously sick. We must stand together in prayer and faith for what will be the best Congresso yet.
- Pray for:
- For the salvation of over 2,000 people
- For anointing, health and safe travels for Pr. Maurício Rocha, Nívea Soares and her worship team, Caíque Oliveira and his team
- For good weather- no rain!
- For an excellent turnout
- For anointing, health, wisdom and safety for the coordinators of the Congresso
- For the various teams that take part: Intercession, Ushers, Counselors, Medical, Worship, Concessions, Security, Choreography, Drama, Street Dance, Media and Sound Team
- For smooth running of the entire event, from start to finish
- For the conditions of use for the stadium, its‘ security and administration
- For God’s provision in the area of finances
